The Details...

Our steroid-free, gluten-free shampoo and bodywash gets rave reviews from eczema sufferers who’ve tried everything. This unscented, moisturizing wash is made with plant-based cleansing ingredients that gently clean without drying or irritating the skin.

The active ingredient, gluten-free, certified organic colloidal oatmeal, is very effective in relieving eczema breakouts, rashes, and insect bites. For extra relief, we add certified organic calendula extract and aloe vera to soothe, moisturize, and keep your skin hydrated for longer.

Since eczema flare-ups can be triggered by food allergies it’s important to reduce potential irritants. This wash is free of gluten, soy, dairy, and nuts (except for coconut) and since we only make our products in-house there’s no risk of cross-contamination.

A note from Jessica, founder of California Baby:

The active ingredient in this wash, colloidal oatmeal, has a long history of beneficial use in dermatology with an excellent safety record and has demonstrated efficacy in protecting and relieving skin irritations such as eczema. It is also FDA approved for use to treat eczema-afflicted skin.

After searching for a long time, I found a USA supplier of Colloidal Oatmeal that is not only certified organic but is also gluten-free and meets strict FDA OTC protocol. Perfect! Since eczema flare-ups can be triggered by food allergies it’s important to reduce potential irritants which is why we wanted Colloidal oatmeal without gluten (gluten is a common trigger for eczema flare-ups). The effects of eczema are uncomfortable for babies and grown-ups alike and this protective wash hits the bulls-eye in gentleness and hydration.

Eczema Tips

1. Not too hot! - Short baths in lukewarm (not hot) water are best. Hot water can dry and irritate sensitive skin. Overbathing can also irritate.
2. Moisturize immediately after bathing! – at least 2-3 times per day using our Calendula Cream or Eczema Cream and especially after the shower or bath!
